The Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT) is advertising a fixed term, part‑time Psychological Therapy opportunity for an AFC qualified Band 7 or 8a role in the Wolverhampton Adult Secondary Care Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
Psychology is a vital and influential field, represented at every level in our Trust, including roles such as Chief Therapies Officer and Chief Clinical Information Officer, both Consultant Clinical Psychologists.
The CMHT is a combination of Practitioner Psychologists, CBT Therapists and DBT Therapists offering group and individual therapies in line with recovery models of care and trauma‑informed practice.
Main duties of the job
There are opportunities to apply and develop your limited psychological skills in CBT and DBT. Clients have complex mental health problems including C‑PTSD, personality disorders, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and moderate to severe presentations of depression and anxiety (including OCD, health anxiety, and social anxiety) with comorbidities. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wishing to extend their experience in secondary care mental health.
Black Country CMHTs have a strong multi‑disciplinary ethos, with good links with staff from Tier 1 (Primary Care and Talking Therapies), our Recovery College and VCSE partners. Specialist services support the CMHTs: Complex Emotional Needs; Eating Disorders; Perinatal; 18‑25s Transitions Team; Early Intervention in Psychosis; Clinical Health Psychology.

Job responsibilities
Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of specialist psychological care to clients with complex mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities, which may include challenging behaviours.
* Be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
* Promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.

* Exercise supervisory/professional responsibility for other psychological therapists.
* Provide leadership in multi‑disciplinary training and development.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Post‑graduate doctoral level training in Applied Psychology (or its equivalent) accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Post‑graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence‑based psychological therapeutic model.
* Registration with BPS.
Experience
* Working with mental health/learning disability clients (depending on designated service area).
* Multi‑disciplinary team working.
* Experience of CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, systemic therapy.
* Experience of research and audit.
Knowledge
* Evidence‑based practice relevant to the role.
* Risk assessment and risk management.
* Clinical governance.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Audit and research methodology.
* Social Inclusion agenda.
* Awareness of the Trust's Quality Improvement System.
* Communicate complex and highly sensitive information effectively to a wide range of people.
* Adapt creatively the evidence base for interventions relevant to the client group.
* Provide (within agreed timescale) effective teaching, training, consultancy and clinical supervision.

* Skills in using multimedia materials in presentations.
