The purpose of the role is to enable young people referred to the charity to maximise their opportunities through excellent educational and emotional support.
In the role the post holder will provide a range of interventions which will include predominantly 1:1 tuition and educationally focused project work and activities.
The post holder will need to be a great English teacher but someone who will also co-ordinate and deliver integrated packages of support for the young person to promote their emotional and developmental needs ( including providing various levels of information, advice, advocacy and mentoring.)
Context
The Educatch Charity is a tuition/support service with a difference. We deliver intensive support and offer an academic and vocational curriculum for young people who need something bespoke and who have probably struggled in other settings.
The Educatch worker will work closely with a network of other professional staff, within a highly supportive framework to provide a safety net to " catch" any young person who is slipping through the net.
You will need to be first and foremost a great teacher who can navigate the English GCSE /Functional Skills curriculum and who cares about vulnerable, sometimes complex, sometimes challenging young people and who will do their best to ensure they reach their fullest potential. You will be reliable, punctual and self motivated but most of all care about children and young people who require a bespoke child centred service.
Key tasks
1. To work constructively and effectively to deliver creative individualised learning programmes for our young people.
2. To devise teaching materials and differentiate work so that what you do is relevant and meets targets for GCSE's examinations and /or other agreed qualifications.
3. Be able to assess a young person whether it be in relation to risk management or English GCSE.
4. Be able to set realistic targets and monitor progress for all young people.
5. Enjoy being part of active partnerships with local providers of education to provide additional opportunities for young people to maximise learning.
Direct work with children/young people
1 To tutor young people who require a bespoke, creative timetable which will also include project work and engagement activities.
2 To set, monitor and review education goals and targets and to celebrate achievement.
3 To co ordinate and ensure the delivery of packages of educational and emotional development opportunities for young people referred to the service.
4 To take the teaching lead in the planning, delivery and recording of 1:1 tuition activities.
5 To set up work and enterprise related activities for young people and prepare and support them in engaging in these.
6 To accompany young people on activities such as swimming, music production, arts and crafts, gardening and events and to take responsibility for the young people when accompanying them to such visits or activities in line with individual learning action plans.
1. To work in close partnership with young people, their families/ carers and others significant in their network to enable young people to access all opportunities open to them.
9 To ensure that the safeguarding of the Young People is paramount. And to have a clear understand of KCSIE 2025 and EduCatch' Child Protection Policy and procedures.
