Production Manager Company overview
Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of around 150 world-class metallurgists, mechanical engineers, technicians, and software developers working across three offices in the UK and one in the US, building the future of advanced metal components. We use proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling, as well as extensive experimental facilities, to 3D print metal parts and components better and faster than anyone else.
At our premises in Yarnton and Abingdon, near Oxford, we are aiming to build the world’s fastest, smartest, and best-equipped facility for the rapid development of additively manufactured parts for the electronics, aerospace and industrial sectors, and novel metal alloys for better performance.
The Operations team in Abingdon is responsible for delivering up to 25 projects at any given time, encompassing low-TRL R&D projects to component production runs of thousands of parts. The Production Manager will manage all aspects of production for each of these projects, implementing pre-defined production plans and ensuring that resources are effectively balanced to ensure that shipping deadlines and volumes are met.
This pivotal role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to rapidly solve problems and prioritise tasks, and a broad understanding of multiple manufacturing processes.
Implementation of production plans : review production plans received from the Production Planner, convert them into daily production schedules for each work centre and share individual requirements with operators
Throughput tracking and troubleshooting : assess cumulative production for each project against overall production targets; Communication : develop strong working relationships with project managers, operations planners, operators, quality teams and management; Systems development : work with management to develop better systems for planning, dynamic scheduling, tracking, and reporting to make production management more efficient
Team leadership : help to develop a team of operators, technicians and programmers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing, with a proven track record in production management
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment and make critical decisions in rapidly changing circumstances to optimise production outcomes
Resilience in the event of production setbacks; willingness to work flexible hours and ‘muck in’ to meet deadlines if required
Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices
Familiarity with regulatory standards, such as ISO 9001, and industry-specific certifications
