Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor (Eqv ST3+ Level) in Hepatology to be based at the Royal London Hospital for a one year fixed term post. This post will start from 1st August 2025 and end on 31st July 2026. We are looking for a pro active, enthusiastic trainee who has completed their core medical training and wishing to pursue a career in Gastroenetrology and Hepatology. This post will provide ample opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of Hepatology ( inpatient, outpatient and research) in a Level 2 Hepatology unit in a large teaching hospital in East London. Candidates will be encouraged to undergo training in endoscopy, involve themselves in Quality Improvement projects and enhance their management skills by co-ordinating the paracentesis clinic. There are no on call commitments in this post.
Main duties of the job
This role is based at The Liver Unit at The Royal London Hospital, which has close links to the internationally recognised Digestive Disorders Clinical Group. The unit works closely with the gastroenterology team at Whipps Cross Hospital and Newham Hospital and provides out-patient viral hepatitis services to these hospitals. An integrated multi-disciplinary service is run within the department and in conjunction with other clinical groups, most importantly surgery, pathology and radiology. There are also close links with the clinical department of paediatric gastroenterology allowing opportunities for extra experience and training (e.g. in adolescent medicine). The Liver Unit is an international centre of excellence for the management of patients with complex viral hepatitis and leads the regional clinical service for patients with hepatitis C.
