Job overview

Within this role, you will also be part of a psychology led Children's Long Term Health Conditions team.

Your clinical work will comprise of, screening, consultation and the assessment of need and risk, formulating with and for the MDT, delivering bespoke highly specialist psychological interventions and liaising with community and IP colleagues to ensure a joined up patient journey through our services. You will be supervising doctoral level psychology trainees on placement and assistants when they are in post.

You will be supported through clinical, professional and managerial supervision and we support and encourage CPD relevant to your clinical area. Accessing forums that support your role is encouraged such as Action Learning Sets, coaching, The Trust Proud Leadership Course and mentoring; attendance is expected at Psychology Department CPD days as they keep you connected and supported professionally. Providing clinical leadership alongside the clinical and team leads to the teams will be a strong part of your role and you will be encouraged to engage in CPD and research /audit .


Main duties of the job

Your clinical work will comprise the assessment of need and risk, formulating with and for the MDT, delivering bespoke highly specialist psychological interventions, running reflective practice groups, providing in house training and supervision to the team, running group psychological debriefs when needed and liaising with community and IP colleagues to ensure a joined up patient journey through our services. You will be supervising doctoral level psychology trainees on placement and assistants when they are in post.

Person specification


Qualifications and knowledge

* Post-graduate doctoral level training or its equivalent in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
* Current HCPC registration
* Knowledge of and experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools, such as neuroassessment, as applied in identified clinical area
* Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of advanced psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. complex PTSD, personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with disabilities etc)


Experience

* Demonstrable experience of working as a clinical psychologist, to include a significant period of working at a senior level in the specific field where the post is held
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings
* Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations, publishing
* Ability to work across team/organisational boundaries developing and maintaining multi-professional and multi-agency partnerships


Skills and competencies

* Effective inter-personal skills and experience in supervising
* Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity
* Able to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels i.e. strategically and locally
* Be able to demonstrate leadership/ management skills at an advanced level
