Title: Assistant Hygiene Manager
Location: Coventry
Pay: Competitive between £36,000 and £41,700
Shift: Any 5 of 7 (Flexibility required)
Purpose and scope of job
Smooth day-to-day Management / Supervision of the hygiene team at Guenther Bakery. Providing direction, guidance, training and support to employees within your area of responsibility.
1. Hygiene Operations & Technical Support
* Conduct CIP (Clean-in-Place) cleans in accordance with hygiene standards and client specifications.
* Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to the required standard as per Cleaning Instruction Cards, schedules, and specifications.
* Maintain consistent hygiene standards through regular audits, documentation of failures, and implementation of corrective actions.
* Ensure safe and correct use of hazardous chemicals and cleaning equipment, including verification of PAT testing and equipment condition.
* Ensure adherence to isolation/lock-off procedures for dangerous machinery prior to cleaning.
* Supervise the implementation of the company's Health & Safety policies.
2. Client Engagement & Technical Advisory
* Support clients with technical knowledge and guidance on designing drainage systems that meet hygiene and safety requirements.
* Develop and maintain professional, proactive relationships with all levels of client representatives.
* Handle client complaints efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely resolution.
* Identify and act on opportunities to improve service delivery and client satisfaction, including tasks beyond the scope of work.
3. Team Leadership & Staff Management
* Support the Hygiene Manager in all aspects of service delivery, maintaining self-reliance and initiative.
* Plan and allocate work effectively to optimize staff and equipment use.
* Allocate staff to meet service requirements and maintain labour within budget.
* Monitor staff presence and ensure smooth shift operations.
* Ensure staff are correctly attired and equipped with appropriate PPE, and that it is used correctly.
* Promote safe working practices and ensure staff understand their duties.
* Provide hands-on support to staff and maintain communication throughout shifts to boost morale.
* Foster team building and a harmonious working environment.
4. Training & Development
* Identify training needs, recommend appropriate programmes, and monitor training effectiveness.
* Ensure all employees are trained and developed for every task.
* Attend internal and external training sessions as required.
5. Administrative & System Support
* Assist with payroll and Timegate system management, ensuring accurate staff attendance, shift records, and compliance with working hours.
* Ensure staff adhere to sign-in/out procedures and work the correct number of hours.
* Complete and submit all documentation in line with agreed deadlines in consultation with the Hygiene Manager and client.
* Conduct return-to-work interviews for all periods of sickness/absence when required.
* Report and investigate all incidents and accidents involving machinery or equipment, following accident reporting procedures and completing required documentation.
6. Compliance & Policy Adherence
* Comply with company policies on equal opportunities and all other procedures and systems.
* Adhere to all client policies and procedures.
* Manage subcontractors when required, ensuring compliance with standards.
* Follow instructions from the Line Manager to adapt to evolving service needs.
* Maintain flexibility to meet changing business needs.
Other Duties
* Perform any other duties as required in consultation with the Hygiene Manager to meet the changing needs of the business.
