Job Introduction
Driving is essential for this role
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance misuse problems. As a Trainee Recovery Worker, you’ll make a real difference to their lives by providing support and advice to help each service user achieve their potential. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life as you make this role your own as part of a hard-working and friendly team.
You will be offered the scope and support to develop your career as you gain experience and training to grow as a Recovery Worker.
During the first 6 months, you will undergo blended learning to understand your role, responsibilities, and the sector. Further development opportunities, including qualifications or internal accredited learning, may be available.
The starting salary for this position is £21,313, rising to £24,150 after successful probation.
Role Responsibilities
As a Trainee Recovery Worker, you’ll be committed to ensuring that individuals with substance misuse issues receive the best start at their journey towards independent living. This hands-on role involves supporting people through one-to-one key work, harm reduction advice/interventions, and collaborating with treatment providers and community partners.
The Ideal Candidate
You should have a good understanding of substance misuse issues and a genuine passion for this field. Experience, whether voluntary or paid, is preferable but not essential. Most importantly, you should be flexible, eager to learn, patient, and able to empathize with service users. Good moral values, non-judgmental attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to meet complex needs are crucial. Additionally, you need good IT and communication skills.
You must be willing to work outside regular hours, including late evenings and Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
