Your new role As Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reports and quarterly grant returns. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead accounts payable and receivable activities, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive procurement processes. Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly financial results, journals and variance analysis, updating project reporting to track cost of sales and profit or loss, and assisting with statutory audits and annual accounts. You will manage payroll reconciliations and balance sheet accounts, prepare grant claim forms and support audits, and regularly update cash-flow forecasts to support cash management. You will also oversee supplier and customer engagement to ensure accurate processing and payments, coordinate timesheet processes and improvements, calculate customer pricing for new contracts and grant bids, and partner with internal stakeholders to deliver budgets, forecasts, and financial targets. In addition, you will provide finance support to increase financial awareness and profitable growth, and adopt a continuous improvement approach to increase automation and efficiency What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you should hold strong and relevant Financial Accounting experience. You will need a high level of technical accounting and finance skills, and be a strong communicator who can build relationships both virtually and in person. Excellent planning and organisational abilities are essential, as is the capacity to deliver high-quality outputs on time. You should thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and demonstrate a positive, 'can do' attitude. Experience in accounts preparation, including accruals and prepayments, as well as proficiency in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables), Dynamics Business Central, and Power BI, is required. You should be confident in cash flow forecasting, accounts payable, payroll activities, forecasting, and budgeting. The ability to work autonomously under pressure, manage changing priorities, and communicate effectively at all levels is vital. A personable, self-motivated, and proactive approach will help you succeed in this role.
