What You’ll Do
We’re looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer for our New Product Development team in London. In this role, you’ll be pivotal in bringing technical substance and inspiration to our creative efforts to deliver credible solutions to populate our product roadmap, and ultimately to the market, specifically by:
1. Taking a senior role in the origination of novel concepts and technologies for our next generation of products.
2. Defining elegant but robust solutions to satisfy the products’ functional requirements.
3. Mentoring more junior team members, with potential for line management if desired. Supporting all team members and encouraging their efforts.
4. Leading design studies (independently and in teams) to solve technical or consumer issues found in the development of a product.
5. Taking ownership of designs and driving them through conception, CAD and visualisation, prototyping, and verification, whilst working at pace.
6. Working both autonomously and collaboratively as required, adapting quickly as technical solutions gain traction through the wider global engineering team.
7. Continuously evaluating and improving designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturing improvements, increased quality, and value to consumers.
8. Applying sound engineering standards to deliver real solutions.
9. Utilizing understanding & experience of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs.
10. Communicating effectively and professionally with colleagues.
11. Collaborating seamlessly with our U.S. and China-based Product Development teams to ensure ideas make it through to production.
What You’ll Bring
1. Degree-level technical qualification, ideally in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical, or Industrial Design Engineering.
2. Typically 4-6 years proven experience in Mechanical/Product Design environment.
3. Experience in the consumer goods household appliance space is desirable.
4. Experience in delivering real-world products to market.
5. High proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Creo CAD packages.
6. Ability and drive to independently identify, solve, implement, and verify user and technical solutions.
7. Hands-on experience with prototyping, developing test plans, executing tests in a lab environment, and analyzing data.
8. Flexible and collaborative attitude.
9. Positive attitude with an inquisitive nature.
10. Appreciation for electrical engineering, software, and UX design is helpful but not essential.
Please note: This position requires you to be in our London office 3 days a week.
