Finance Officer
Our clients are looking for a Finance Officer to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our firm. You’ll work closely with our Finance team to ensure smooth accounting processes, strong financial controls, and accurate reporting that helps shape the future of the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Accounting
* Managing daily accounts payable and receivable transactions
* Completing daily bank reconciliations
* Preparing weekly cashflow and projected forecasts
* Recording weekly income and managing completion-related transactions (CHAPS/BACS)
* Processing payments and receipts via online banking, cheques, and debit cards
* Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
* Maintaining effective credit control in the absence of the Operations Finance Manager
Compliance & Audit
* Supporting the File Opening process: reviewing Client Risk Forms, ID checks, and carrying out AML checks
* Supporting File Closure by ensuring ledgers are fully reconciled
* Helping maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax rules, and legal industry requirements
* Preparing information for auditors, accountants, and regulatory bodies
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Preparing financial reports—including WIP, billing, and performance reports
* Working with Finance Managers to track performance against budget
* Supporting the Strategic Finance Manager with budget setting and long-term financial planning
Client Management & Administration
* Handling internal finance queries from colleagues
* Taking payments over the phone or in person and assisting clients with finance-related questions
* Providing general administrative support—filing, scanning, and helping keep financial records in excellent shape
What You’ll Bring
* Experience in a finance administration or officer role, with confidence managing daily accounting independently
* A professional accounting qualification such as AAT Level 2 or 3 (or studying towards), ILFM, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA
* Experience in a regulated environment—legal sector exposure is helpful but not essential
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* A proactive approach and the ability to prioritise effectively
* Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office
* Experience using legal accounting software (desirable, not essential)
