Carmichael UK is seeking a competent Section Engineer to join a major project in Plymouth on a long-term basis.
Due to the site being a high-security base, additional security checks will be required. BPSS level security clearance is necessary, which can take 4-6 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and having been UK residents for the last 5 years will be considered.
As a Section Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the preparation of as-built drawings.
2. Establishing effective systems to record work completed and updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
3. Managing systems to enable the review of work progress against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
4. Assisting in recording and testing workmanship and materials, such as drainage, concrete, piling, and brickwork.
5. Providing engineering support to resolve technical problems and answer queries.
6. Setting out works within allowable tolerances.
7. Regularly checking setting out points and benchmarks, ensuring all instruments and measuring equipment have calibration certificates.
8. Ensuring the workforce understands setting out information relevant to the work.
9. Managing the preparation of sketches for site distribution, ensuring clear communication channels.
10. Maintaining setting out and dimensional control for accurate construction.
11. Recording instructions and maintaining the drawing register.
Qualifications and experience we are looking for include:
1. A degree in civil engineering or equivalent (e.g., BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, or completion of Higher Apprenticeship).
2. SSSTS certification.
3. CSCS White PQP/AQP card.
4. Possibly working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or other professional bodies.
5. Experience in a similar role.
