Job Title: Production Engineer
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Location: Factory-based, Manchester Area
Holiday: 28 days plus Bank Holidays
Working Hours: 4-day week (Monday to Thursday)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Production Engineer to join their factory-based team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a critical part in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of their production lines, equipment, and site services. You’ll work closely with the Engineering Manager to minimise downtime, drive continuous improvements, and ensure high standards of safety and compliance across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintenance and Repairs: Perform both preventative and reactive maintenance on production lines, utilities, and machinery to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
* Mechanical & Electrical Support: Diagnose and resolve faults in mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, inverter drives, pumps, and liquid handling equipment.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and ensure all maintenance activities meet statutory and internal safety standards.
* Site Infrastructure: Maintain building services such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, and waste systems, coordinating with external contractors where needed.
* Record-Keeping: Accurately document maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs, reporting to the Engineering Manager and ensuring records are audit-ready.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives by identifying and suggesting cost-saving or efficiency-boosting upgrades to machinery and systems.
About You
Qualifications:
* Relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience:
* Previous experience in a maintenance or site services engineering role, ideally in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
Technical Skills:
* Solid fault-finding skills across both mechanical and electrical systems. Familiarity with electric motors, inverter drives, pumps, and liquid mixing or handling equipment is a strong advantage.
Additional Skills:
* Experience in workshop tasks such as turning, milling, and welding is desirable.
