Our client is a major tier 1 main contractor that works in the water and civils markets across the UK, due to recent project wins they now have several fantastic opportunities and are recruiting for a Section Engineer located in London.
As a section engineer, your input to the Tideway construction site will be technical, organisational and supervisory.
You will also share responsibility for site health, safety, quality and environmental protection and the organisation and supervision of the manpower working on the construction site.
Working as part of the site management team, you'll be expected to liaise with other members of the construction support team including; engineers, planners, subcontractors, supervisors and surveyors.
You will directly manage site engineers working under you, will also being capable of planning and performing engineering for future works.
Main Responsibilities:
•perform engineering and the technical advisor role for the packages of work that are assigned to you, providing engineering direction to subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives within your area of responsibility.
•Manage a team of site engineers, providing direction, guidance and mentoring.
•You will set out and determine the location for infrastructural installations, both above and below ground, and will apply designs and plans to provide engineering assistance to site activities.
•develop safe systems of work, method statements and quality documentation; ITPs, QRPs and the like.
•produce, monitor and control budgets for sections of work scope.
ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications
•oversee the selection and requisition of materials
•manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents
•liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
•attending regular progress meetings to inform the wider team
•carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force, junior site engineers and the work of any subcontractors in area of responsibility
•plan the work and efficiently organise the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines
•oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site
prepare reports as required
•resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
