Are you a qualified Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with at least 3 years post qualifying experience ideally in a Mental Health Liaison Service, Crisis Team, Local Authority Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team ?
Are you interested in working within a general hospital environment, providing specialist biopsychosocial assessment and treatment for patients with both physical and mental health needs?
We are a liaison service to not only the Emergency Department, but also wards within Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital for those age 18 and also age 65
We are a supportive, skilled and friendly multi-disciplinary team of professionals including, Dual Qualified Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, and Administrators. The people we support can span a wide spectrum: from organic disorders, psychosis, self-harm, severe depression or somatoform disorder to adjustment reactions, delirium, dementia, and abnormal health behaviour.
We operate a 24/7 service 365 days per year to include days, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis (we have dedicated and experienced night practitioners).
Experience of working with both working age adults and those over 65 is essential for one of the Basingstoke posts including experience of cognitive testing and working with those who may have a diagnosis of dementia.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist mental health assessments for working age adult patients and older people within Hampshire Hospitals.
To provide psychological support effectively and efficiently to patients with mental health needs who are temporarily in crisis, or who have mental health needs as a result of their physical illness or as a result of being hospitalised.
To advise non-psychiatry staff on outcome of assessment and formulate a care plan based on clinical intervention and risk management.
To provide time limited liaison reviews when needed for those patients with more complex and enduring mental health needs whilst inpatient in Hampshire Hospital NHS Trust.
Work positively and collaboratively as an integral part of the Specialist Adult Mental Health services, Older Peoples Mental Health services and effectively liaise with multi-agency colleagues, patients, and their family and carers.
Contribute to the development and quality of clinical practice of liaison work with this client group at local and national levels.
To provide mental health education, advice and training to clinical staff and students at Hampshire Hospital NHS Trust.
To work various shift patterns participating in a flexible 7 days per week rota on a shift rotational basis. The service operates over a 24hr period.
