Job Description
Graduate Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy)
Our Renewable Energy team are seeking graduates in their Glasgow or Edinburgh offices starting from August 2026 onwards.

We are at the forefront of the energy sector’s transformation, supporting the shift to low-carbon energy and sustainable solutions across the energy ecosystem. Projects include wind, solar, hydropower, energy storage, hydrogen, and related services across the UK and internationally.
Here's What You'll Do
Successful candidates will be deployed to work predominantly on solar projects but will have the opportunity to work on different projects providing electrical support for the following technologies:
* Onshore and offshore wind
* Solar PV
* Hydroelectric – run of river and pumped storage
* Hydrogen production and storage
* Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Projects cover all design stages from feasibility to detailed design and site construction supervision in the UK and internationally. Clients range from large energy utilities to private developers.
A Typical Project Example
Lancaster University Solar Farm – AECOM was contracted to complete a reference design and tender pack, acting as NEC Project Manager and Owner's Engineer during build and commissioning.
Responsibilities Include
* Supporting the delivery of consultancy services on renewable energy engineering projects, including site visits and supervision.
* Providing input into feasibility level studies for renewable energy projects in conjunction with wider AECOM teams.
* Preparation of technical reports.
* Preparation of detailed design information.
* Assisting in securing work with renewable energy developers and their supply chain.
Qualifications
* BEng Electrical Engineering
* MSc/MEng would be an advantage
* 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above
* Commitment to continued education and improvement through approved training schemes
* Demonstrable interest in a career in renewable energy
* Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Strong communication skills with internal and external clients
* Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
* Ability to structure and prioritise work with the team
* Ability to work in a team and independently
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in renewable energy or related field (developer, manufacturer, or consultant)
* Some familiarity with CAD and PVsyst
* Driving license (travel to sites may be required)
* Student member of a professional institution
* Working ability in a second language and/or work experience outside the UK
