Best Interests Assessor (BIA) – Adult Social Care
Location: Trafford
Rate: £32 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to join a well-established Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team within Adult Social Care in Trafford.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a borough-wide service that plays a vital role in ensuring individuals’ legal rights are upheld under the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and DoLS legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake Best Interest Assessments for DoLS applications within statutory timescales
Complete high-quality, evidence-based reports to support decision-making
Determine whether arrangements constitute a deprivation of liberty and if this is in the individual’s best interests
Maintain effective communication with service users, families, and carers
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and care providers
Contribute to screening applications, auditing, and quality assurance processes
Undertake Part 8 reviews and support Court of Protection processes where required
Support the development of the service and provide guidance to managing authoritiesRequirements
Qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist
BIA qualification (valid and in date)
Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England)
Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience
Experience completing DoLS assessments within a local authority setting
Strong working knowledge of:
Mental Capacity Act (2005)
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Relevant case law and Court of Protection processes
Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage a complex caseload independently and meet deadlinesDesirable:
