Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Principal Town Planner to join their team in Winchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Town Planner to take on a senior leadership role within a growing consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping project strategy, managing clients, and supporting the growth of the business.
THE ROLE
As a Principal Town Planner, you will lead and oversee a range of planning projects from early-stage strategy through to submission and determination.
You will take a proactive role in client engagement, provide high-level planning advice, and mentor junior team members, positioning yourself as a key figure within the business as a Principal Town Planner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading and managing complex planning applications and projects Providing high-level strategic planning advice to clients Acting as a key point of contact for major clients and stakeholders Overseeing the preparation of planning reports and documentation Managing and mentoring junior team members Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key consultees Driving business development and identifying new opportunities Supporting the overall growth and direction of the business
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline MRTPI qualified Extensive experience within a planning consultancy environment Strong leadership and project management skills Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities Proven track record in managing complex projects * Strong commercial awareness and business development skills
