Students explore a wide range of topics including British history, international conflict, social change and political developments. Lessons are structured to encourage discussion and debate while ensuring students develop strong written and analytical skills.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Humanities department to plan lessons, share resources and ensure that students experience a well-sequenced curriculum that supports long-term understanding.

The Humanities Department

History is a popular subject within the school, particularly at GCSE, where students enjoy studying topics that connect historical events with modern society. The department encourages enquiry-led learning, allowing students to explore historical questions and develop their own interpretations supported by evidence.

Enrichment activities such as history clubs, guest speakers and educational trips may also form an important part of the department’s work.

About the School

The school has built a positive learning culture where students are encouraged to take pride in their work and aim for academic success. Behaviour systems are clear and consistent, helping to create calm classrooms where teachers can focus on teaching.

Staff benefit from a supportive leadership team that values professional development and encourages collaboration across departments. Teachers are trusted to bring creativity to their lessons while working within a structured curriculum that supports both staff and students.
