We are recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for someone with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
Key responsibilities include:
* provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training
* develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development, and deliver environmental outcomes
* commission and manage external research projects where needed
* work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players
* respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident
The Energy & COMAH team leads on setting standards for the energy sectors, providing strategic direction, tools, guidance and training to support regulation.
Experience / Skills Required:
* ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work
* relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, including experience of control measures for emissions to air where relevant
* ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia
* work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals
