As a Senior Manager in Operational Risk and Internal Control, you will play a key role in shaping and maintaining our risk management practices. Reporting to the UKI Risk Director, you will lead a dedicated team, oversee critical processes, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure our operations meet regulatory standards and internal expectations. Your expertise will help us build a resilient, transparent, and proactive risk environment.
What you'll be doing:
* Lead the delivery of our operational risk and internal control framework, ensuring effective design and implementation.
* Oversee testing programs to assess the effectiveness of controls and ensure all evidence and documentation are of high quality.
* Maintain a clear view of risks, controls, incidents, and action plans, providing independent challenge and insights.
* Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and closure of recommendations.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancements and governance maturity.
* Prepare and present reports for governance committees and senior leadership, ensuring clarity and strategic focus.
* Act as a trusted advisor to business teams, fostering a strong risk-aware culture through engagement and training.
* Manage documentation, dashboards, and data insights to support decision-making.
* Lead thematic reviews and deep dives on emerging risks or regulatory interests.
* Develop and mentor your team, inspiring high performance and professional growth.
* Support transformation initiatives that strengthen our risk management capabilities and regulatory compliance.
What you'll bring:
* At least 7 years' experience in operational risk, internal control, or related roles within UK financial services.
* Strong understanding of UK regulatory expectations, including FCA, PRA, Solvency II, and GDPR.
* Proven ability to lead or coordinate second-line testing programs, with attention to quality and detail.
* Skilled in managing risk management systems and data reporting tools, such as Power BI.
* Experience supporting or leading transformation projects to improve frameworks or operating models.
* Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team development, workload management, and fostering collaboration.
* Critical thinking, professional skepticism, and the ability to operate with sound judgment in complex situations.
* A committed, reliable, and solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
