Job Role: Hire Desk Controller Rota: Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 My client is a well-established plant hire company with over 37 years of experience supplying small and medium plant equipment across the Midlands. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Hire Desk Controller to join their busy team. The role of Hire Desk Controller in brief: Managing plant hire enquiries via telephone and email. Planning and coordinating deliveries and collections of plant equipment. Processing hire contracts and off-hires using Syrinx hire software. Liaising with drivers, suppliers, customers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations. Assisting customers with selecting suitable plant and equipment for their requirements. Maximising the utilisation of internal fleet before arranging external hires. Raising purchase orders and ensuring all hire documentation is accurate and compliant. Supporting stock takes and general hire desk administration duties. Building and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships. Identifying opportunities to generate new business and improve operational efficiency.The ideal candidate for Hire Desk Controller: Previous experience within the plant hire industry is essential. Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively. Good IT skills and experience using hire management systems. Professional and customer-focused approach.
