This isn't just an administrative role; it's your chance to be at the heart of the employee journey for our diverse university community, supporting colleagues from their very first interaction through every stage of their career here at York.
There are three roles available on a fixed-term basis:
1 full-time role is available immediately and is fixed-term until March 2027.
2 roles are maternity cover roles (part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE) or full-time) and are available on a fixed-term basis of up to 12 months.
We are also open to staff that are interested in taking up the role on a secondment basis.
What You'll Do:
As an HR Assistant, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional HR service across the entire University. You'll be instrumental in managing a diverse range of HR administrative tasks, directly contributing to the recruitment and employment of our valued staff. We're committed to ensuring our HR services are not only highly efficient but also deliver an outstanding and supportive experience for every member of our university community. Tasks include:
* Drafting accurate and clear communications for colleagues.
* Accurately updating our electronic HR systems to maintain precise records.
* Efficiently processing pay and contract amendment requests, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
* Undertaking vital HR compliance tasks, such as verifying right-to-work documentation, to meet legal requirements.
Key requirements
* Level 2 qualification including Maths and English. We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or commensurate professional experience.
* Proven experience in a varied administrative role, successfully balancing competing priorities.
* A track record of providing excellent customer service to a range of stakeholders.
* An understanding of key HR activities.
* The ability to work flexibly and accurately, under pressure, and to tight deadlines.
