SENCO / Teacher – Secondary Alternative Provision (QTS Required)

Job Summary
Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist secondary alternative provision in Catford, supporting pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH and SEN needs.
This is a teaching SENCO role, combining classroom teaching with responsibility for SEN provision and EHCP processes. The provision focuses on re-engagement, attendance, and long-term outcomes, within a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver high-quality teaching to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional SEN, adapting curriculum and pedagogy to meet individual need
2. Act as SENCO within the provision, overseeing SEN identification, support planning, and statutory processes
3. Lead, coordinate, and contribute to EHCP reviews, annual reviews, and SEN documentation in line with local authority requirements
4. Liaise professionally with the Local Authority, external agencies, and multi-disciplinary professionals
5. Work closely with the Head Teacher to develop and monitor SEN strategy across the provision
6. Support staff with inclusive practice, differentiation strategies, and behaviour support approaches
7. Monitor and track pupil progress, engagement, and attendance, using data to inform interventions
8. Implement and review individual behaviour and support plans
9. Promote positive relationships, emotional regulation, and resilience through trauma-informed practice
10. Maintain clear records in line with safeguarding and SEN compliance requirements
11. Contribute to a consistent, calm, and structured learning environment
12. Participate in meetings, reviews, and planning to support whole-school development
Working Pattern
13. 4 days per week
14. Tuesday is mandatory
15. One additional weekday off (your choice)
16. 8:00am – 4:00pm
17. Start date: ASAP or February half term
Essential Requirements
18. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
19. Experience supporting pupils with SEN
20. Confidence teaching secondary-aged pupils
21. Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
22. Previous SENCO experience or title
23. Experience contributing to or leading EHCP reviews
24. Experience in alternative provision, PRU, or SEMH settings
Pay & Contract
25. £180–£230 per day (pay to scale, dependent on experience)
26. 12 week Temp to Perm period (Subject to interview)
