Job Description:
Join our team as a Lead Driver/Shift Manager, and lead service and delivery across both national and local multi-drop van routes. You will lead our team of drivers to ensure best in class service and ensure that our customers' requirements are at the forefront of everything we do.
What you'll be doing:
You will be responsible for the supply of goods to customers all over the UK and will ensure that our processes, systems and policies reflect our way of doing things. A key understanding of DVSA regulations and compliance will be key in ensuring deliveries are made on time and in full. You will improve our customer experience in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that we maintain our customer-first approach. You will be responsible for:
* Managing a team of drivers
* Handle incoming calls during and after business hours
* Ensuring overall fleet compliance in-line with DVSA regulations
* Monitoring drivers' hours, rotas and holidays, with support from the Transport Manager.
* Implementing and utilising logistics technology for tracking and management. Staying updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology
* Seek opportunities to optimise logistics processes to reduce costs and improve scheduling
* On-time delivery scheduling
* Use appropriate geographical and transport network knowledge to maximise efficiency planning
* Office administration work (daily checks, fuel receipts, rotas, maintenance planning
* Ensuring goods are checked and loaded correctly.
* Delivering goods when required
* Ensuring vehicles are taken into service and repair in a timely manner.
* Ensuring GMP standards are maintained throughout the department.
About You:
* You will be a professional and experienced Transport Supervisor/Manager
* Experience in transport operations, with significant experience of managing a team of people
* Computer literate and can pick up new applications quickly
* Proactively lead a team of drivers with energy and drive
* Previous experience in a similar role within FMCG and/or Food Manufacturing would improve your application
