We are now looking for a video producer, breaking news to join our multimedia department. You’ll produce breaking news video for the Guardian website and Guardian News YouTube channel, playing a key role in shaping and delivering fast-turnaround clips, explainers, news packages and live feed output as well as visual investigations.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract or internal staff secondment.

About the role
* Lead on producing news video packages and explainers from concept to publication
* Script and produce original video content as required by the Reactive news editor, video
* Pitch ideas for news videos, explainers and investigations aligned with audience needs and editorial priorities
* Lead on pre-production of complex video explainers and visual investigations
* Shooting in the field, including interviews, actuality and observational footage, often in challenging or fast-moving environments
* Edit videos to a high editorial and visual standard, with strong narrative structure
* Maintain exceptional standards of video verification, fact-checking and contextual accuracy across all published content to ensure it meets the Guardian’s editorial guidelines
* Use Adobe Premiere Pro to a high standard to edit accurately and quickly for audiences on site, on YouTube and on our social media platforms as required
About you
* Experience editing video in a breaking news environment
* Proven track record producing, shooting and directing in challenging or fast-paced environments
* Strong storytelling and ability to find and develop topical, compelling stories across the world
* Proven track record editing YouTube-first videos to a high standard
* Strong knowledge of industry-standard video equipment (e.g., Sony FX6) and post-production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere) experience directing reporters/presenters on camera
* Experience reporting and fact-checking stories and characters
* Demonstrable willingness to embrace a visual, multi-format approach
* Collaborative, open and inclusive; ideally you will have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role
