About The Role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Planner to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, consisting of 43 bridges, including viaducts, 17km of complex Highways construction, complex utility diversions, and a scheme-wide, industry leading approach to carbon reduction.
Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.
The Planner is responsible for creating and managing comprehensive construction project schedules, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring timely project delivery. Aims to streamline planning processes, enhance coordination, and contribute to the overall efficiency of construction projects.
Responsibilities
* Resource Management: Skilled in managing labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet project objectives while minimising costs and delays.
* Tender: Utilise advanced expertise to collaboratively develop and decisively agree on a strategic and optimized sequence and methodology.
* Contract: At the contract stage, the Planner is responsible for producing, managing, and maintaining the Contract Programme in accordance with planning procedures under the guidance of the Planning/Project Lead.
* Contract Management: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, and resolving contract-related issues.
* Schedule Change Management: Implementing controlled Changes to Schedules through the relevant Change Control Process.
* Schedule Quality Management: Monitoring the Schedule against the requirements set out in the scope and other specific Project Schedule requirements.
* Strategic Planning Oversight and Mentorship: Aims to provide strategic planning oversight by leveraging advanced expertise in developing and implementing intricate scheduling techniques.
* Data Analysis: Aid the planning team to produce project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and make data-driven decisions for project improvement

Knowledge
* Competent in project management tools and software like Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA.
* Comprehensive knowledge of construction, including construction methodology, various phases, processes, and requirements, to facilitate effective project planning.
* Knowledge in project scheduling, including the ability to create, manage, and optimise project schedules using industry-standard tools.
* Understanding of various forms of tender and contract documents, and specifications.
* Understanding of project management methodologies.
* Knowledge of Change Management in project programmes: EWNs, CEs, etc.
* Knowledge of Schedule Quality Management in project programmes.
Experience
* Demonstrated experience in successfully planning and managing projects from initiation to completion using planning software like P6/Asta.
* Previous experience in managing relationships with project stakeholders, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in construction or other sectors with transferable skills that align with the demands of the construction field.
