Personal Assistant Job Reference 6232. Location: Darlington. Job Type: Darlington (PA's). Salary: £12.21 per hour. Hours: minimum 6 hours per week with additional hours and one waking night per month. Immediate start.
Responsibilities
* Provide 6 hours of care and support to help a young man broaden his horizons, develop independence and access leisure activities and community opportunities.
* Support activities such as walks, visits to cinemas, cafés and restaurants, events, live music, festivals, camping and holidays.
About the person
A 14-year-old boy living in Darlington with his parents and a small, very cute dog. He uses a powered wheelchair and plays powerchair football nationally; he enjoys time with friends, festivals and travel.
Care needs and tasks
* Personal care support including toileting, showering and dressing
* Medication administration and meal preparation
* Use of equipment to aid personal care and transfers (slide board, ceiling hoist, mobile hoist)
* Full training provided
Shifts and hours
* Thursday 3pm – 9pm
* Friday 3pm – 9pm
* Saturday 10am – 4pm or 4pm – 10pm
* Monthly waking night: 3pm – 10am (Friday or Saturday)
* Additional hours available: Weekday mornings 7am – 9am (term time)
* Weekday evenings 3pm – 6pm (or 9pm) (term time)
* School holidays: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm
Requirements and qualifications
* Full, clean driving licence and access to a fully insured mobility vehicle
* Confidence driving and parking a larger vehicle
* Ability to transport the young person to activities with the mobility vehicle
* References and DBS check (satisfactory)
