I'm working with a highly regarded Legal 500 firm in Hertfordshire that is looking for an experienced Head of Residential Property to lead its established conveyancing department. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior conveyancing professional who wants to combine leadership with hands‑on casework in a supportive, client‑focused environment.
About the Residential Property Team
The Residential Property team understands the stresses and strains that come with buying or selling a home. They make sure every client’s individual issues are handled carefully, and they are always available to answer questions and provide reassurance. This firm is big on quality not quantity, and the loyalty of its repeat clients is proof of that.
Alongside the fee earners, a dedicated support team ensures clients are kept fully informed at every stage of the process.
The Role
* Manage a varied caseload of residential property matters from instruction through to completion
* Ensure full compliance with CQS, SRA, and AML standards
* Draft, review, and finalise contracts, title documents, and Land Registry applications
* Supervise, mentor, and support junior members of the team
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agents, lenders, and other professionals
* Contribute to business development, cross‑referrals, and departmental growth
* Maintain the firm’s reputation for exceptional client service and care
About You
* Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or CILEX professional with at least four years of post‑qualification experience in residential conveyancing
* Confident handling all aspects of residential property work including freehold, leasehold, new build, re‑mortgage, and transfer of equity transactions
* Experienced in managing or mentoring a small team
* Strong understanding of conveyancing compliance and regulation
* Highly organised, proactive, and client‑focused
* Able to attend the Watford office a few times per week, with flexibility available
