Capita is recruiting a Civil Engineer to support the delivery of highways and infrastructure projects across North Tyneside. This is a key site-based role responsible for the accurate setting out and technical delivery of works, ensuring projects are constructed safely, correctly and in line with design specifications. Working as part of the wider project delivery team, the Civil Engineer will translate design information from drawings into practical site delivery, playing a vital role in quality, accuracy and compliance throughout the construction phase. This is a fixed term contract position. Job title: Civil Engineer Job Description: What you'll be doing: Setting out works accurately in line with construction drawings and specifications Translating design information onto site, ensuring works are delivered in the correct position and alignment Supporting the delivery team with technical input to ensure quality and accuracy Reviewing drawings and identifying potential technical issues before and during construction Managing and recording setting-out and quality information Assisting with planning and sequencing of works to meet programme targets Communicating technical information clearly to site operatives and supervisors Ensuring health and safety standards and safe systems of work are followed on site Supporting the preparation and completion of site documentation and handover records What we're looking for: Essential experience and skills A degree or HNC in Civil Engineering Proven experience working on highways or infrastructure projects, including drainage, paving, kerbs or similar works Strong understanding of setting out techniques and construction accuracy Ability to plan works and understand activity durations to meet delivery targets Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with site teams Ability to use Microsoft Office and Excel Some knowledge of the operation of AutoCAD CSCS certification SSSTS or equivalent construction management knowledge and experience A full UK driving licence Desirable experience Some site management or supervisory experience Understanding of budgets for materials and resources Experience using Microsoft Project Experience working within organisations using both in-house and subcontracted teams First Aid at Work qualification About Capita Capita is an outsourcer, helping clients across the public and private sectors run complex business processes more efficiently, creating better consumer experiences.
