Job Description
Our market leading client are at the forefront of the Mechanical Handling Industry. They require an experienced Electrical maintenance engineer to assist the team in the design of their projects including control systems design, build, testing and commissioning activities in order to deliver best in class designs and operational excellence to their clients.
This position is a combination of office and site based.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
Office Based
1. Support the control system design team in the specification and integration of the electrical field devices
2. Generate electrical cable block diagrams and cable schedules
3. Generate electrical cabling sizing calculations
4. Generate cable containment information
5. Working with mechanical resource, ensure the electrical equipment is integrated into the overall design
6. Generate Control System Testing and Commissioning Schedules
7. Generate Control System Site Acceptance Test Procedures
8. Produce Risk Assessments
Site Based
9. Carry out electrical control system installation works
10. Verify the control system elements
11. Set up/configure any Variable Speed Drives
12. Carry out any electrical fault-finding activities
13. Carry out control system electrical testing activities
14. Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing
15. Carry out Site Acceptance Testing
16. Produce Reactive Risk Assessment and Method Statements
17. PPM
18. Carry out project modernisation work
19. To attend breakdowns, identify faults and carry out effective repairs
Key Skills/Experience
Essential
20. Knowledge and experience of Overhead Electrical Travelling Cranes
21. Previous experience in the installation and testing of electrical control systems
22. Familiarity with safe systems of work, permit systems etc and knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
23. Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Regulations
24. Conversant with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
25. Lodge away, as required, dependant on the job and location
26. Knowledge of Machinery Safety Regulations (BS EN 13849-1)
27. This role may require security clearance to SC level
Desirable
28. Hold current 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
29. Knowledge of control system instrumentation such as Laser Positioning systems, position and speed encoders, safe access systems
30. PLC/HIM literate to enable testing, commissioning and fault finding using programming laptop.
