APPLIED RESEARCH NORTH AND EASTERN EUROPE SPECIALIST
Our client is a global leader in the development of new berry varieties. This position will help identify, evaluate and assist with the development and commercialization of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry solutions created or learned from others to produce maximum profits for growers by decreasing fruit waste, increasing yield of delightful fruit for consumers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Define, prioritize and communicate research needs and gaps for the regions of focus- UK, continental north of Europe and Eastern Europe;
2. Create and execute research trials and innovative processes for production optimization for growers profitability and strategy execution for UK, continental north of Europe and Eastern
Europe;
3. Support the results evaluation and new practices deployment across growers in collaboration with Agronomy;
4. Build/Collaborate in best management practices documents and research reports/communications;
5. Transfer of knowledge to and from other regions;
6. Support and collect information in On Farm Trials to improve new genetic selections performance and ensure their successful commercialization.
7. Be a connection to Nursery, Breeding, Operations and Global Research, through the active contribution to the commercialization process of new genetics and new production systems and
with the knowledge transference between regions.
8. Organize field days demonstrations, workshops and tours to show high potential of new varieties and growing practices between growers.
9. In collaboration with Breeding, Operations and Product Leadership will be assisting with:
o Allocate plants of new selections for demonstration trials;
o Define research trials and observations in new selections to allow genetic deployment;
CANDIDATE PROFILE
10. Bachelor or Master Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology or a related field (for Bachelor, 3 years of experience in berries will be
required)
11. Must have some knowledge of resource usage, plant health and pest pressure assessment, knowledge of substrate and agricultural practices;
12. Knowledge required of the management of data from field plots using computers and the necessary computer applications including statistical analysis, spreadsheets, email, and internet;
13. Should be detail- and result-oriented, have effective verbal and written skills, good organisation, maths and analytical ability.
14. Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
15. Strong and effective communication skills;
16. Ability to work with key stakeholders and assist on multiple projects across the enterprise.
17. Pragmatic and ability to work under pressure, multi-task and deliver to tight deadlines.
