An exciting internal opportunity is available for a Retail Team Leader to help us with our busy peak seasonal periods -this is a full time, fixed term position expected to last until 31 August

How you you’ll contribute to our mission
To co-ordinate the day-to-day retail operations ensuring an environment and service that provides first-class visitor experience; whilst generating sales income to exceed agreed targets in support of Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS’) vision and mission.
Some of the things you’ll do:
1. Working across one site (RZSS Edinburgh Zoo)
Line management of Retail Sales Assistants including seasonal roles.
To manage retail operations by ensuring correct staffing levels are in place and adequate stock levels in line with visitor numbers in the region of k per annum.
Support and assist the management of the Edinburgh Zoo retail sales team, maximise income generation and achieve set targets, including annual income targets in excess of £2m
Support and assist the management of the Edinburgh Zoo retail shop and all aspects of the daily operation. creating a rota, allocating tasks to retail team, opening and closinge the shop, communicating targets and key messages, monitoring sales and service performance, dealing with any issues which may arise
Contribute towards departmental budgets of approx. £, (including payroll, purchasing, retail stock and equipment, signage, and printing). For example managing weekly payroll budget.
Support the delivery of a 5- star customer retail experience.
Delivery of customer service training
Gather face to face visitor feedback and contribute to the improvement process.
Work alongside the membership and adoptions team to promote these income streams to visitors.
What we’re looking for:
2. Educated to HND level in relevant field or equivalent qualifications or experience
3. Good understanding and use of electronic booking and cash system
4. Knowledge and understanding of health and safety and equality regulations
5. Understanding of diversity and inclusion issues/regulations

6. Starting pro-rated salary of £28, or £28, (offer based on experience) with future salary progression up to £31, per annum
7. 37.5hr working week (may require some weekend working)
