A specialist Construction Consultancy are now seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their Brighton office, working across retail and restaurant projects. This Graduate Quantity Surveyor role provides structured exposure to consultancy quantity surveying and commercial support. The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will work closely with experienced quantity surveyors, gaining hands-on quantity surveying experience across live schemes. This position suits a Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to start a career in quantity surveying within the retail and hospitality sectors. Quantity surveying training, quantity surveyor mentoring and practical surveying exposure form a core part of this role.
The Company?
The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be joining an established construction consultancy delivering quantity surveying services across the retail and restaurant sectors. The business works with occupiers, developers and operators on refurbishment and fit-out projects across the South East. This Graduate Quantity Surveyor role sits within a small and collaborative surveying team, offering direct exposure to projects and clients.
The Role
As the Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will work alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors and support the commercial delivery of retail and restaurant projects. The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will assist throughout the project lifecycle from pre-contract to final account.
The role will include:
Assisting with cost planning and cost control
Supporting the preparation of tender and contract documentation
Assisting with valuations, variations and final accounts
Attending site meetings and progress reviews
Working alongside contractors, consultants and clients
Supporting commercial and cost reportingThe Graduate Quantity Surveyor?
The successful Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be motivated and keen to develop within consultancy quantity surveying. Applications from candidates without a construction or quantity surveying background will not be considered.
The Graduate Quantity Surveyor must have:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
Exposure to UK construction projects through placements or work experience
An understanding of basic cost management principles
Strong communication and organisational skills
