The role of Area Sales Manager at ZwickRoell UK & Ireland reports directly to the UK & Ireland Sales Manager. They will be a key part of the Sales Team, supported locally and at HQ in Germany. Typical markets include Academia, Metals, Polymers, Automotive, Aerospace & Defence, and Medical, amongst others. The ideal candidate is a consultative technology enthusiast, able to listen and communicate effectively to ensure the correct technical and commercial solutions are provided to fulfill customer requirements. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and eager to succeed in this rewarding sector. Key Responsibilities:
Overview: Supporting the sales function by identifying and selling tailored solutions that meet customer requirements to achieve sales targets. Primarily home-based if not visiting customers, with periodic travel to Worcester for in-person meetings and demonstrations. Face-to-face customer visits are required due to the consultative sales process. This position combines technical sales expertise with a consultative approach, focusing on building long-term customer relationships by effectively addressing their testing needs. Key results you will be responsible for:
Customer Engagement and Sales Development:
Manage a mix of new business development and existing account management through regular meetings (in-person, virtual, phone, and email) to achieve sales targets and build customer relationships. Technical Consultation and Presentations:
Deliver tailored technical presentations and collaborate with ZwickRoell specialists to propose the best technical and commercial solutions, including arranging product demonstrations. Sales Process Management:
Support the preparation of technical sales quotes, ensure timely customer discussions, and maintain accurate records in the CRM system while adhering to internal protocols. Marketing and Networking:
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and seminars to promote products, strengthen branding, and expand the customer network. What you will bring to the role: Ideally Degree qualified in engineering with a mechanical element. Materials science related subjects are advantageous but not necessary. Previous technical experience will also be considered. Minimum 3 years’ consultative sales experience, ideally selling Capex technical products. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, adaptable to internal and customer interactions. Willingness and ability to travel, mainly within the sales area, including to the ZwickRoell group in Germany and Austria. The UK South is a key area for future business expansion, with established key customers. The successful candidate will contribute significantly within a rapidly growing company. Following extensive training, they will be responsible for sales of all ZwickRoell Group products and for the success of all sales opportunities in the territory. They should have good time management skills, work well in a team, and also be autonomous. The successful candidate can expect:
