Midday Supervisor – Immediate Start Available (Subject to Successful Completion of Recruitment Checks) Location: St Stephens Primary School, Church Lane, Fradley, Lichfield, WS13 8NL Salary: £3,126.78 per annum (Grade 2, Scale Point 3) Hours: 1 hour, 5 minutes per day, Monday to Friday, term-time only Reports to: Senior Midday Supervisor / Headteacher Job Purpose: To supervise and ensure the safety, welfare, and good conduct of pupils during the lunchtime period, both inside the dining hall and in the playground or other school premises. As a Midday Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting our OPAL approach by encouraging creative play, ensuring safety during outdoor activities, and helping to promote a culture of independence, cooperation, and fun. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise children in the dining area, ensuring a calm, safe, and respectful environment. Assist younger pupils with opening packaging or cutting food when necessary. Encourage positive behaviour and good table manners. Oversee and engage with children during outdoor or indoor play, actively encouraging creative and inclusive play in line with our OPAL principles. Support children in resolving minor disputes, promoting independence and resilience. Implement the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies consistently and fairly. Report any accidents, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate staff. Help ensure all lunch and play areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe. Attend training related to OPAL, safeguarding, and first aid as required. Person Specification: Essential: Enjoy working with children and committed to promoting their well-being and development. A positive, caring attitude and the ability to use initiative. Good communication and teamwork skills. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility. Desirable: Experience working with children in a school or play setting. Understanding of the value of play in child development. Previous involvement in outdoor play initiatives or OPAL programmes.
