Up to £32,561 plus a £2,000 South East allowance (if HQ based) per annum, and a generous benefits package
FTA for up to 12 months, 37.5 hours per week
Based at HQ Culham* (Oxfordshire) or Griffin Park (Calder Bridge, Cumbria)

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police force, responsible for the protection of civil nuclear facilities and materials whether they are on site or in transit. Counter-terrorism is a major part of our policing. Our ambition is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the leading policing organisation for the armed protection of civil nuclear material and the critical national infrastructure of the UK. Given the critical nature of our work, it’s vital that we recruit skilled and committed professionals to our hard-working team.

We are looking for a Project Support Officer to join our Portfolio Officer, Governance and Enabling Services team, which leads strategic change initiatives, supporting the delivery of CNC operations, and ensuring we reach our strategic objectives. The role of Project Support Officer impacts directly on projects that reside within the CIP Portfolio and is key in delivering project support to ensure that projects run to time and plan!

In this role you’ll collaborate with key stakeholders and colleagues, understanding and supporting all aspects of projects and programmes, manging the project plans, documentation and processes. You’ll provide key analytical information using spreadsheets and project management software to track project progress and produce reports and plans to support Programme and Project Board meetings, of which you’ll organise and take minutes, and be responsible for further actions such as arranging follow-up meetings and workshops. You’ll take responsibility for controlling project documentation to ensure adequate access control, management and filing, providing full audit trails and governance compliance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
1. Experience within a project support role and working to deadlines under pressure.
2. Knowledge of/qualified in project management methodologies.
3. Minute/note taking skills with good attention to detail, particularly in a technical environment.
4. A team player, self-motivated and able to use own initiative appropriately.
5. Customer focused with confidence to challenge practice and process when required.
6. Excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills.
7. Experience of collating and managing project (or similar) documentation.
8. Experience of working with sensitive or security-related information.
9. MS office skills, including databases, Visio and Microsoft Project.

Please note that this role will initially be based at our HQ Culham until our relocation to Harwell in Autumn 2026 and the role thereafter will be based at Harwell.

Some of the responsibilities of this role include:

23. Achieve critical project objectives by working collaboratively with key stakeholders and colleagues, understanding and supporting all aspects of a project/ programme, and managing project plans, documentation and processes.
24. Provide basic analytical capability using spreadsheets and project management software to enable detailed monitoring and tracking of project progress. Contribute to the development and analysis of project documentation.
25. Organise meetings at programme or project level, scheduling activities and supporting workshops to assist in the key lifecycle stages of the programme. Take minutes of meetings as required.
26. Production and distribution of reports and plans to support Programmeand Project Board meetings.
27. Control project documentation to ensure that there is adequate access control, management and filing, both electronically and hard copy, providing full audit trails and governance compliance.
28. Processing of purchase orders within Oracle where services/products are procured for the programme or project.
29. Liaising with the wider CNC Programme and project teams to provide co-ordinated information and activity where possible.
