Consultant Psychiatrist – Older Adult CMHT with Inpatient Beds

Position Overview: Full‑time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work within the City Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and will be responsible for inpatient care on Ward 7, a functional disorders unit for older adults at Harplands Hospital, Stoke‑on‑Trent.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide up to four follow‑up appointments per session (45 min: 30 min clinical, 15 min admin). New appointments for one‑half day each.
* Manage one new patient per session, with home visits scheduled only when clinically necessary.
* Cover Ward 7 (14 beds): average 7 beds, maximum 10, minimum 4 per day.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team including allied health, activity workers, clinical psychology and dedicated carer support.
* Ensure that all inpatient care aligns with the Trust’s standards and the geographical non‑functionalised model of care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification, MRCPsych.
Experience
* Fully registered with the GMC and licence to practice at time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry within six months.
Skills
* Excellent knowledge and expertise in older adult psychiatry.
Other Requirements
Disclosure and Barring Service check required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
UK professional registration required.
