The Role The Head of Engineering sits at the heart of Racelogic’s engineering function, with direct responsibility for the day-to-day operational leadership of four core engineering departments: Hardware Design, Firmware, Software, and Testing. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the role encompasses line management of four department managers, end-to-end ownership of engineering delivery, and cross-functional coordination across all Racelogic brands: VBOX Automotive, VBOX Motorsport, LabSat, and AirPixel. The Head of Engineering translates strategic direction into operational execution, ensuring that teams are well-structured, high-performing, and consistently delivering against the company’s product roadmap. This is a pivotal role for an experienced engineering leader who is motivated by building strong teams, driving delivery excellence, and creating an environment in which engineers can do their best work. Key Responsibilities Engineering Delivery Own delivery across all four engineering departments, maintaining alignment to the product roadmap. Act as the primary escalation point for cross-departmental risks, resourcing conflicts, and technical dependencies. Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across all product lines. OKR Tracking & Accountability Lead the OKR cadence across engineering, reviewing progress and surfacing blockers. Drive accountability across teams through clear objectives and structured follow-up. Chair cross-department engineering meetings to ensure alignment between teams. Integration & Dependency Management Identify and resolve integration dependencies spanning multiple engineering teams. Coordinate release readiness and integration milestones. Ensure smooth, coordinated delivery across hardware, firmware, software, and testing. People Management Line-manage four Engineering Department Managers through regular 1:1s and structured performance conversations. Own objective-setting, performance reviews, and calibration processes. Support managers in leading and developing their own teams. People Development Build a high-performance engineering culture through effective hiring, onboarding, and development. Drive career development and succession planning across engineering. Empower managers to grow capability and performance within their teams. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with Product Management to align engineering delivery with commercial priorities. Represent engineering in operational and business review forums. Build strong working relationships across departments. Reporting Provide clear, timely reporting to the CTO and wider business. Communicate delivery progress, risks, and people-related updates. Ensure visibility and transparency across engineering activities. About You Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Extensive experience leading multiple engineering teams across disciplines. Proven track record of structured performance management and delivery leadership. Experience managing cross-functional dependencies and delivering integrated outputs. Background in product-focused engineering, ideally in electronics, automotive, or test and measurement. Experience within a company of 50–300 employees navigating growth is desirable. Strong leadership style that empowers managers and builds trust through delivery. Comfortable contributing as part of a senior leadership team. Able to manage multiple priorities across different product lines and engineering disciplines. Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
