Job summary Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) is lookingto recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and committed Consultant Radiologist witha specialist interest in general and urology imaging to our cohesive,hard-working and friendly team. The BHNFT Medical Imaging Teamincludes Consultant Radiologists, radiology specialty doctors, radiologyresidents, consultant mammographers and Advanced Practitioners and provides acomprehensive imaging service. The trust is rated as good by the CQC with performancebenchmarked well within the top quartile of acute trusts by NHSE. Responsibilitieswould include augmenting and enhancing urology services delivered by MedicalImaging, support of general imaging services with colleagues and MDT support. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate inthe general radiology workflow, audit, quality improvement, MDT work, teaching,and general on-call rota (1 in 8). Teleradiology cover the acute MR servicefrom 17:00-20:00 on weekdays and 08:00 20:00 at weekends and the acute CTservice from 20:00 08:30. Main duties of the job ClinicalServices To provide an effective diagnostic radiologyservice to primary and secondary care alongside consultant colleagues includingresponsibility for the investigation of conditions on referral and the properfunctioning of the department. Participation of all consultants performing diagnosticgeneral radiology in an emergency on-call out-of-hours service, currently on a1:8 rota in conjunction with consultant colleagues. Training& Education To contribute to the teaching of other grades ofstaff, both within and outside the department, including medical staff, nurses,paramedical staff, and scientific and technical staff. To contribute to postgraduate and continuingmedical education activity. To contribute to appraisal of junior medical staffin accordance with guidelines from the Royal College of Radiologists and thePostgraduate Dean. ClinicalGovernance The post holder will be expected todemonstrate continuing improvements to the quality of service provided withinthe framework of the Trusts Clinical Governance arrangements, including: Participation in the development of a satisfactoryand consistent quality service by establishing appropriate systems, agreeingstandards and ensuring that standards are met. Participation in clinical audit, undertaking auditon a regular basis and ensuring that audit findings are acted upon and, wherenecessary, changes made to service delivery to improve and enhance patientcare.
