Working Hours: 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

About the role: Responsible for the People & Culture elements of their allocated contracts, this is an autonomous role, reporting in to the Head of HR. The HR Business Partner will lead and take responsibility for providing a first-class HR service to our internal customers and wider HR teams. The HR Business Partner will be responsible for owning and managing operational HR Business Partner activities within their contracts and also to work closely with the contract senior management teams to develop and implement people-related improvement plans that drive contract effectiveness and employee engagement and productivity towards the successful achievement of enterprise and customer contract-agreed strategies, targets and objectives.

What you’ll do:

The role of the HRBP is to support our operational managers in all generalist areas of HR in order to increase line management capability and promote good HR practice throughout their contracts that ensures Company behaviours are fully demonstrated, protects the Company and customer brand and supports the overall business and People & Culture strategies.

Success Measures within the HR Business Partner role:

1. Recognised for their contribution to the delivery of business targets through value-add HR initiatives.
2. Identifiable by customers as the HR Contact who understands their business and has provided sound guidance to enable the team to deliver constant and exceptional people management.
3. Clear and demonstrable outputs which are ‘value adds’ measured through customer satisfaction, retention and financial targets.

6. Year on Year improvement on Employee Engagement scores

Key Responsibilities:

7. Act as counsel to the business in all employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances and managing absence.
8. Owns any Trade Union relationships for any recognition agreements, consultations and day to day excellent industrial relations concerns.
9. Hold HR up-skilling workshops to promote best practice and where legislation changes.
10. Coach and mentor the people managers across the business ensuring they are confident and competent regarding any required matters.
11. Supporting the HR Business Partner (TUPE) and operational with active involvement in any TUPE processes including presentations, consultation meetings, checking of due diligence, scope discussions, drop-in sessions etc. to “win hearts and minds”.
12. Active involvement in delivering change where required and providing support to the business leads in delivering effective organisational change
13. Work with the Leadership team as a coach, challenger, contributor and driver of important Divisional decisions. A true Business Partner.
14. Identify and report on the needs of the business (qualitative and quantitative) considering business growth, wellbeing, attrition and risk.
15. Translate strategy into actionable programmes, operations or activities.
16. Support the Wellbeing and People & Culture Department and the business on the delivery of initiatives that constantly reinforces EMCOR UK’s values, culture and behaviours such as annual engagement surveys.
17. Work with internal customers to make sure that their culture and EMCOR UK’s culture are constantly demonstrated by on-site staff to deliver exceptional service to our external customers.
18. Work with the People & Culture Department on communication, improvements to be made and strengths to build on from the outputs of employee engagement activities.
19. Take ownership of complex ER cases and other areas where HR expertise is required to minimise risk to EMCOR UK.
20. Be visible in order for managers and employees to have easy access to assist with employee challenges or concerns. This should include regular travel to contracts locations.
21. Act as an expert and provide timely advice on matters, following-up with managers to make sure their intervention has been successful and to offer any further assistance needed.

Person Specification

Who you'll be:
22. A rounded, experienced HR professional practitioner with solid HR experience, preferably gained working in a FM or related business environment
23. Can demonstrate a successful track record of implementing ‘added value’ HR programmes in a commercially driven business environment
24. Experienced in Trade Unions relationships and negotiations
25. Extensive TUPE transfer experience
26. A thorough understanding and knowledge of up-to-date of best practice HRM
27. CIPD level 7 qualified, or equivalent
28. Good understanding of current Employment Law
29. Thorough understanding of change management techniques
30. Previous experience of providing HR Business Partnering services within a large, complex, multi-faceted organisation is essential
31. Keen to deliver an excellent service to your colleagues and customers, you will communicate effectively and efficiently and act as an escalation point for stakeholders. People management experience is essential, you will have the ability to motivate and mentor with enthusiasm and provide clear direction.
32. The ability to quickly identify business unit needs and risk reward in people resource planning and management
33. Good analytical skills and the ability to detect trends and patterns
34. The ability to think strategically with the tenacity and determination to see projects and initiatives through to successful conclusion
35. The ability to take objective and business focussed decisions, retaining a commercial focus at all times
36. Self-starter with good personal organisational and project management skills
37. The ability to develop positive working relationships with Directors and other senior management team members
38. High level of influencing skills and the tenacity to push forward with good ideas whilst retaining effective relationships
39. Confident and outward going with an obvious ability to gain confidence of senior management
40. The energy and infectious enthusiasm to get things done
41. Ability and enthusiasm to travel
42. Essential that the post holder is able to be security cleared to appropriate level as dictated by the customer
