About the Role
Director - Principal Engineer - Data Cloud at Pfizer. Join Pfizer’s Digital function, a technology‑led team that delivers high‑impact digital products and services to patients, healthcare professionals, payors, and other stakeholders worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead one or more teams of 10–25 engineers to design, ship, and support secure, scalable, and privacy‑first digital products and services from inception through launch and ongoing maintenance.
* Represent engineering in program and stakeholder meetings, providing technical consultation, risk assessment, and estimation support.
* Architect robust and scalable solutions that align with Pfizer’s business objectives, learning quickly when new technologies are introduced.
* Document work, enforce code quality, and promote secure coding practices across the team.
Technical Leadership
* Serve as the top technical authority on projects, making decisions on technology choices, design approaches, solution architecture, and implementation.
* Lead and oversee the entire lifecycle excellence of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with architectural vision and adherence to best practices.
* Promote secure code hygiene and guide the correct configuration of SaaS solutions to ensure security and compliance.
* Facilitate communication among Enterprise Architects, Business Architects, Vendors, and Developers to move content from ideation to delivery.
Cross‑Team Collaboration
* Translate business stakeholders and technical engineers to ensure that technical, security, and privacy considerations are represented in strategic discussions.
* Align objectives, dependencies, and schedules across multiple teams to keep teams unblocked and ensure seamless project execution.
* Share best practices and quality standards through the Principal Engineers Forum.
* Collaborate with security teams to monitor vulnerabilities, implement defenses, and ensure compliance with security best practices.
Excellence by Design
* Continuously discover, define, architect, deliver, and enable solutions that support program OKRs.
* Advocate for the adoption of best practices, new technologies, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Build a culture of shared responsibilities and transparency leading to higher quality and quicker delivery of outcomes.
* Ensure that privacy and security are integral parts of system design.
Coaching & Mentorship
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid‑level engineers.
* Act on Developer Experience (DX) survey findings to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Incident Management & Recovery
* Lead or assist in the response to security incidents, ensuring rapid containment and recovery.
* Diagnose and resolve operational outages efficiently.
* Implement post‑mortem analyses to prevent future incidents.
* Design with data privacy considerations from the outset.
Required Skills & Knowledge
* Extensive software engineering experience leading complex projects.
* Deep technical expertise and proven leadership abilities.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
* Broad technical knowledge of digital pharmaceutical sciences platforms.
* Experience with privacy & security principles, DevSecOps, and regulatory compliance in pharma.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent Master’s.
* Experience in a DevOps environment, large‑scale enterprise delivery, and Salesforce data cloud solutions.
* Proficiency with multi‑cloud architecture, Atlassian tools, and security audit processes.
* Excellent communication in English and agile delivery experience.
Travel & Work Schedule
Global enterprise position requiring travel within and beyond the region; weekend or after‑hours participation may be required.

Work Location Assignment: Must work in assigned Pfizer office 2–3 days per week, or as needed by the business. This role is NOT remote.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual base salary ranges from $156,600.00 to $261,000.00. Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a 20% bonus target and long‑term incentive program. Benefits include 401(k) with matching, paid vacation, medical and vision coverage, and other comprehensive programs. Relocation assistance may be available.
