The Role
As a Study Scientist, you will be a key Study Team member in the delivery of customer projects. You will receive training under the guidance of senior members of the Study Team to broaden your scientific knowledge and develop practical laboratory techniques across several areas. Your main responsibility is to ensure customer projects are performed in the laboratory to the highest standard to deliver high quality data. After training and probation, you will participate in our weekend on-call rota.
What We Expect You To Do
Key responsibilities:
* Laboratory Operations
* Perform, to a high standard, a wide range of immunology assays
* Develop deeper technical understanding to mitigate risks by identifying problems in documentation, reagent preparation and/or equipment
* Contribute to troubleshooting discussions about risks and errors to efficiently problem solve
* Set up templates and gain competence for end point analysis on equipment required for specific assays
* Communicate assay completion and data with project stakeholders
* Collaborate with study managers to ensure efficient running of projects, including preparation of reagents and aliquoting of customer samples
* Documentation
* Prepare study-related documentation (Standard analytical procedures and custom laboratory documentation) as guided by the Study Protocol
* Update and maintain Study Records
* Contribute to interim data documentation and data presentation for interim discussions
* Contribute to Study Protocol and report preparation with support from the Senior Study Scientist or Study Manager
* Data Analysis
* Independently perform data analysis of a wide range of assays with minimal support
* Set up data analysis templates and determine the type of analysis required for each assay
* Interpret data on assay completion to assess performance and discuss points of interest with the study manager or senior study scientist
* Perform data integrity checks as required and maintain traceability
* Data Interpretation
* Interpret data for standard and bespoke assays in development or optimisation work
* Gauge assay performance (good data vs bad data)
* Training and Development
* Oversee and coordinate practical training in a specialised area and use of laboratory equipment as guided by SOPs
* Attend training sessions to support personal development objectives
* Compliance
* Adhere to standard practices set by the Quality team
* Raise deviations and prepare risk assessments when required
* Contribute to resolving issues and deviations
* Process Improvements
* Lead on small improvement projects as directed by Senior Study Manager or Department Director
* Contribute ideas to lab processes to drive continuous improvement
* Participate in larger company-wide improvement projects
* Understand analysis requirements and set up data analysis templates; discuss data with the study manager or senior study scientist
* Perform data integrity checks and maintain data processing standards
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications
* A relevant BSc or MSc/PhD in an immunology-related area or at least two years’ experience in a relevant setting (drug development, CRO, etc.)
