Are you a passionate, qualified Science Physics, Chemistry and Math teacher / Tutor with the ability to work with students with ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning needs? We are looking for dedicated and skilled teachers to join our team at our centre, a small nurturing Alternative Provision Centre. Teaching IGCSE and GCSE Physics, Chemistry, and Math, as well as Maths and possibly Functional Skills English, to students who thrive in a supportive, individualised learning environment. The role may also include the opportunity for online tutoring if you're interested.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver engaging lessons for IGCSE and GCSE Physics, Chemistry, and Math, tailored to the needs of students with ASD and other learning needs.
2. Teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, adapting lessons to meet varying levels of ability and learning styles.
3. Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning needs.
4. Support students’ progress in Physics, Chemistry, and Math, ensuring they meet their academic goals.
5. Provide a positive, structured, and safe learning environment for students with ASD.
6. Help students develop study skills, improve self-confidence, and achieve independence.
7. If interested, provide teaching support for Functional Skills English, helping students with literacy and communication skills.
8. The role may include the opportunity to join our online tutoring team for private students, offering flexible support outside of classroom hours (if desired).
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or highly qualified Tutor, with a background in Chemistry.
2. Experience teaching IGCSE and GCSE Physics, Chemistry, and Math.
3. Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how to support students with additional needs.
4. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a calm, inclusive, and positive environment.
5. Ability to teach Maths at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level.
6. Experience and/or knowledge of teaching Functional Skills English.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Attributes:
1. Experience working in Alternative Provision or similar settings.
2. Knowledge of working with students who have high-functioning ASD.
3. Flexible, patient, and compassionate approach to teaching.
4. Interest in or experience with online tutoring.
5. Ability to make students feel relaxed and comfortable, akin to learning at home.
