Our client, a globally renowned leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking to appoint a Cost Accountant to join their dynamic finance team at their Dumfries site. This pivotal role will report directly to the UK Financial Controller and will play a crucial part in driving financial insight and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, developing, and applying detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the business. Typical duties include:
1. Preparation of the monthly management accounts to gross profit for submission to Europe/Corporate to strict deadlines
2. Support Senior Finance Business Partner with forecast/budget process for the Dumfries plant
3. Finance Business Partnering with operational and functional teams, including proactively providing information and insight that helps the business make better decisions on how to deliver against their budgets/forecasts
4. Deputising for the Senior Finance Business Partner when they are unavailable
5. Production of weekly/monthly management information regarding operations performance, variance analysis, and commentary – including material usage and purchase price variances
6. Stock reporting, reconciliation, and control, including obsolescence/excess stock provision calculations
7. Main point of contact in plant regarding standard costing information
8. Taking ownership of the annual standard costing update process
9. Supporting the business teams with the preparation of CAPEX proposals (IPPs)
10. Analyzing financial information to assist business profitability and growth, product costing analysis
11. Ensuring sufficient evidence is available for audit purposes
12. Identifying financial control issues arising out of new initiatives in the business, including documenting new processes
13. Maintaining, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with relevant Sarbanes-Oxley risk control matrices
14. Supporting wider UK Finance team with the annual statutory audit
15. Proactively seeking opportunities to continuously improve finance and related business processes
What you'll need to succeed
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively throughout the organisation
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Advanced Excel & IT skills, including ERP, SAP experience advantageous
* Fully Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACA
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
What you'll get in return
* Salary £45,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience
* Full-time onsite role hours, Monday to Friday, 2pm finish on a Friday!
