Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business:
As a Platform Solution Architect (Manager) in Kainos, you’ll be responsible for leading multi-skilled agile teams to design and deliver high-quality solutions on public cloud which delight our customers. As a technical leader, you’ll work with customer architects and talented colleagues to design, automate, build, and support modern digital service platforms. You’ll estimate effort and advise on the impact of technical decisions surrounding technology choices. You’ll lead the creation of policy and standards, provide assurance across Kainos delivery projects, and share knowledge with/mentor those around you. You’ll continually learn about new technologies and look to adopt them for customer benefit.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Championing a DevOps culture - leading colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security to design solutions of the highest quality that meet all non-functional requirements, ensuring project success.
• Championing technology for positive impact – staying updated on latest technologies/tools and promoting their use within and outside Kainos.
• Developing Kainos as a business – contributing to technology strategy and helping identify, qualify, and win new opportunities.
• Providing Leadership – offering technical leadership across projects, sometimes hands-on, and making difficult but necessary decisions.
• Being opinionated – sharing your opinions and critiques to improve solution quality, proactively sharing knowledge internally and externally.
• Being a role model – supporting colleagues, embodying Kainos values, and earning trust through transparent and justified decisions.
• Putting people first & developing others – managing, coaching, and developing senior staff, focusing on performance and career growth.
MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Strong prioritization and time management skills, capable of handling multiple major projects simultaneously.
* Proven team leadership skills and fostering a DevOps culture.
* Experience in managing, coaching, and developing senior team members and community.
* Ownership of delivering modern digital service platforms in production environments, prioritizing non-functional concerns, and making effective decisions in fast-paced environments.
* Expertise in using multiple public cloud platforms (AWS and Azure), integrating SaaS and PaaS offerings, and understanding solution architecture concepts.
* Experience with Continuous Delivery techniques, container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, cloud-native tooling, and proactive business development within accounts.
DESIRABLE
* Third-level or equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
* Certifications in AWS/Azure and professional bodies like CNCF.
* Active sharing of thoughts and views on technology.
* Proficiency in automation tools such as Powershell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy.
