Job Description:
Discover a new kind of career in healthcare as a functional specialist
Are you working in healthcare and looking for a change? If you’re a nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic, you could use your skills differently as a functional specialist.
Their functional specialists write reports which help the Department for Communities (DfC) make important decisions about a person’s health and care.
Day to Day
You will conduct initial reviews, which may be paper-based, face-to-face, via video, or telephone assessments to evaluate how a claimant’s health condition or disability affects their daily life.
Our client's hybrid model means you’ll be based at home and assigned to work from your nearest assessment centre on a rota basis to deliver face-to-face assessments. You’ll also spend time in our centres or office locations to catch up with your manager and team or attend training sessions.
You will observe and report on an individual’s ability to carry out activities, analyze and interpret clinical information and supporting evidence, and create detailed reports (3,000-4,000 words) for each claimant to support DWP decisions.
Our Offer
This is a challenging role, different from other healthcare professions. Our client provides a comprehensive 6-week training programme (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) with time for self-development.
* The first six months can be challenging; close mentorship and support are provided for your ongoing development.
* Salary: £38,500, with potential to rise to £39,900 based on performance.
Your Requirements
* One year's post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic.
* Fully registered with a UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or other), with a valid PIN, without restrictions or conditions.
* Excellent observational and communication skills, including listening, empathy, and probing.
* Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
* Proficiency with IT, Microsoft Office, and remote systems like MS Teams.
