Millfield Prep School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 2 to 13, located in Glastonbury, Somerset. We cater for around 550 pupils and staff each day, providing a core feeding offer of breakfast, lunch, and supper, alongside a vibrant hospitality service.
This is a 52-week operation running 7 days a week, with additional weekend residential activity for boarders, creating a varied and engaging working environment. A key benefit of this location is its extensive campus setting and outstanding facilities, set in the heart of the Somerset countryside.
This role operates on a 5 days out of 7 rota basis, including some weekend working (primarily during term time), balanced with:
- No late evenings
- Sociable hours compared to traditional hospitality roles
-Time off over Christmas and New Year
We are looking for a talented and passionate Chef de Partie to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Glastonbury.
You will have experience working in a fast-paced, professional kitchen at CDP or Junior Sous Chef level and be confident producing high-quality food to a consistently high standard.
This role offers a better work–life balance than many hospitality kitchens, with sociable hours and no late evenings.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively as part of a team of chefs delivering catering services to pupils and staff
- Prepare and cook food from scratch using fresh ingredients
- Follow company brand standards while maintaining excellent food quality and presentation
- Ensure food hygiene, allergen controls, and health & safety procedures are always followed
- Support portion control, food cost awareness, and waste reduction
About You:
- A genuine passion for food and fresh cooking

- Well organised with excellent attention to detail
- A good understanding of food costs and wastage
- Confident communicating in English within a kitchen environment
Previous experience in a similar food preparation or professional kitchen environment is preferred.
