About the role
This is a
hands-on role
suited to someone with deep technical knowledge of FDM technology and proven experience building and repairing a wide variety of printers — from ReRap based systems through to fully custom builds. If you spend your weekends modding 3D printers, or troubleshooting firmware, this could be the perfect role for you.
As a
3D Print Fleet Technician
you will take responsibility for the performance and maintenance of the Batch.Works printer fleet, ensuring maximum uptime and consistent product quality. You will work closely with the Design and Production Teams, and support the R&D department on machine builds and prototypes.
In addition to hands-on repairs and troubleshooting, you will play a key role in shaping how Batch.Works manages its fleet by
establishing and documenting scalable maintenance processes and best practices
that can be rolled out as we grow.
Responsibilities
* Ensure
maximum uptime
of the Batch.Works printer fleet
- Carry out regular
maintenance checks
and preventative servicing
- Diagnose and repair
hardware and mechanical issues
across multiple machines
- Build, strip down, and modify printers including
Prusa, Voron, RatRig, and custom-built machines
- Establish and document
maintenance processes and workflows
for the fleet, ensuring they can scale as the company grows
- Support the R&D team on
prototype and machine builds
- Help Batch.Works deliver
high-quality products
to our customers
- Stay up to date with the
latest advances
in 3D printing hardware, firmware, and community developments
- Contribute to continuous improvement of machine performance, workflow, and quality assurance
Requirements
* Proven, hands-on experience
building, stripping down, and repairing
a wide range of FDM printers
- Deep technical understanding of FDM technology (mechanical, electrical, and firmware)
- Experience working with
Prusa, Voron, RatRig, and custom-built machines
- Ability to diagnose not only
what
has failed, but also
why
— using structured problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical, data-driven approach
- Confident communicator, able to adapt to the needs of Design, Production, and R&D teams
Desirables (Nice to Have)
* Degree in engineering, design, or a related discipline
* Experience in a
production print-farm environment
* Knowledge of
automation, multi-machine management, and slicer optimisation
* Practical abilities in CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Rhino)
* Background in electronics/mechatronics (e.g., soldering, wiring, board replacement)
* Experience testing or integrating
new materials
for FDM printing
