Overview
SENCO – M/UPR + TLR 2a at Highsted Grammar School, Sittingbourne. Closing Date: 3 October 2025, 12.00hrs (Noon). This is a full-time post (part-time considered) with a reduction in teaching to fulfil the SENCO role.
Highsted Grammar School is a successful girls' grammar school with a focus on academic and personal development. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding checks.
Responsibilities
* Ensure academy practice is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and other statutory requirements.
* Implement and monitor the SEND Policy in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Group (SLG).
* Ensure SEND provision aligns with school aims and policies; maintain an up-to-date SEND profile and rigorous identification of SEND needs.
* Develop and oversee high-quality targeted interventions to support students with SEND and track progress.
* Provide an effective programme of professional development regarding SEND in consultation with the SLG.
* Deploy staff and resources according to SEND needs and write a termly report to the Governing Body on progress and developments.
* Provide parental training and support for emerging and existing SEND needs.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
* QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree.
* Evidence of CPD relevant to the SENCO role; ideally SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate or equivalent.
* SEN experience in a secondary school.
* Vision to develop the SENCO role within a high-achieving grammar school.
