NHS LanarkshireConsultant Paediatrician (1 posts - 10 session) locum
This General Paediatric locum post is available for a period of 6 months commencing from October 2025. This post is an exciting opportunity working within Specialist Children’s Health Service Unit to support service transformation through delivery of a range of high impact changes with a specific focus on improving patient flow and patient journey and focusing on Hospital at Home (Paediatrics) across NHS Lanarkshire. The successful post holder will join the existing Hospital at Home team, and will be involved in implementation of the service alongside continuing to develop/review existing service provision and to manage these patients. It is an opportunity to support the local service, manage the acute paediatric service and support families in their own environment whilst providing hospital level care.
Responsibilities
* Identify, prepare and support patients for Hospital at Home on a daily basis (Monday to Friday 9-5) and work across inpatient and triage wards.
* Work within the Acute Paediatric services alongside current acute consultants.
* Contribute to ongoing development and review of Hospital at Home services and related patient pathways.
* Provide cover for Hospital at Home and triage service during weekend periods (2-8pm, once per month, Saturday and Sunday).
* Allocate time for own appraisal (1 SPA) and administrative/service development time.
* Review Hospital at Home patients as required; consultant reviews may be undertaken by the successful applicant.
* Contribute to consolidating and developing the service as a centre of excellence in secondary paediatric care across Lanarkshire.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
* Membership of the RCPCPH (or equivalent).
* Registered with the GMC and on the specialist register or within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT or CESR (CP) at the time of interview.
